How it works

How the planner calculates

Only with the dimensions from the manufacturer's product data and datasheets. Anything not listed there is marked on request.

All cable entries
First your cables
Per line the quantity, the outer diameter and whether a connector is attached. With Detas Ultra you also indicate which cables are shielded. Then a few questions about the cabinet wall: what kind of hole, which protection rating, and whether it must be Clean (FDA).
Then the options per type
Frames with grommets, split cable glands, entry plates with membranes and single entry grommets. Per type you see how many products you need and how many cables fit. Choose one and you see which cable goes where; you can still move them yourself.
Entry plates
Each plate has a fixed layout of membranes per Ø range. The planner looks for the combination with the fewest plates and as few empty openings as possible, and places each cable in the smallest opening it fits. Membranes are not splittable, so cables with connectors go to a frame, gland or grommet.
Cables with plug
Icotek: KEL frames with KT grommets (up to 16 mm small, up to 35 mm large) or split KVT-ER cable glands. Detas Ultra: DES frames with SPP grommets (2 to 17 mm) and SPG grommets (17 to 35 mm), split DESPRED and DESCLICK cable glands, or a DES PDP entry grommet in its own metric hole (M25 to M75, cable Ø 2.5 to 64 mm). How many grommets fit in a frame or cable gland is taken from the Detas Ultra catalogue.
Shielded cables
With Detas Ultra they get an EMC clamp on the rail or module you choose, with the smallest clamping range that fits. The clamping range applies to the stripped shield, not the outer sheath.
What the planner does not do
Multiple grommets (SPP 2x and 4x), B and E frames, OSF cable glands, KEL-DP plates and cables from 35 mm are put together for you on request. The drawing is schematic: the real dimensions are in the datasheet.
