Sustainability in manufacturing is often about big themes such as energy and raw materials. On 26 November, that is the focus of the Industrial Sustainability conference in Veldhoven.
The problem often lies in a few links
But sustainability is also found in small decisions. A worn cable carrier is often replaced in its entirety, while the problem sometimes lies in a few links, a guide channel or a wrongly chosen cable.
What we look at first
- The links: are they worn along the entire length, or only in one spot?
- The guidance: does the carrier run properly in the channel, or does it rub against something?
- The cables: are they suited to the number of bending cycles and the radius of the carrier?
- The cause: an incorrect radius, overfilling or misaligned installation will simply return after replacement.
Assess first, then decide
At Wisman Techniek, we first assess what is really going on. Refurbishing where possible saves material, costs and often lead time as well. We only replace when necessary, and then with a solution that eliminates the cause.
