Dutch manufacturers lost an average of 21 production days last year because materials were missing. That is fewer than the year before, according to research by reichelt elektronik among 250 technical decision-makers. Even so, it remains a bottleneck: 41% of companies with procurement problems name machine parts as the items most often delayed.
In cable management, every day counts
We see the same in moving cable management. A broken cable carrier or a worn dress pack brings a line or robot cell to an immediate stop. The part itself is often neither large nor expensive, but without it the machine does not run. Then every day of lead time counts.
In cable management, this is something you can prevent. Wear almost always announces itself, and which parts are critical can be determined in advance.
Know which parts are critical
- Links and crossbars: the parts that wear or break first, and that you want to be able to replace quickly.
- End connectors and mountings: small, but without them a new carrier will not fit.
- Cables for moving applications: not every cable is available off the shelf in the right length.
- Dress pack parts: protective hoses, holders and retraction systems on the robot wear along with its movements.
- Complete carriers for critical machines: for an installation that must never stop, a spare carrier can be the cheapest insurance.
