Heavy-duty TKHP cable carrier for container cranes at ECT Euromax Rotterdam

On the container cranes of ECT Euromax in Rotterdam, we replaced the cable management with TKHP cable carriers for long travel lengths, prepared in the workshop and installed within a tight time slot.

01 · Challenge

Challenge

At the ECT Euromax terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, everything revolves around speed and continuity. The giant container cranes here are used intensively 24/7. These cranes cover long travel lengths at high speeds with constant acceleration, often in harsh weather conditions such as salty sea air and strong winds. The existing cable management systems were showing more and more wear, which increased the risk of breakdowns and unplanned downtime. For a terminal where every minute counts, a more robust solution was needed to safeguard operational safety.

Solution

As exclusive partner of Tsubaki Kabelschlepp since 1975, we at Wisman Techniek know exactly which system can withstand these forces. We chose the TKHP heavy-duty series. These cable carriers are specifically developed for the 'long travel' applications you see in ports. The TKHP series combines high rigidity with a relatively low weight, which is essential given the high dynamics of a container crane.

Our engineers fully tailored the configuration to the existing cables and hoses. While carrying out our services on site, we worked closely with ECT's technical team. The installation had to run flawlessly within a tight time slot to disrupt terminal operations as little as possible. By preparing the carriers in our workshop beforehand, we were able to significantly shorten the installation time on the crane.

03 · Result

Result

With the installation of the TKHP cable carriers, ECT Euromax now has a system that is built for the future. The robust construction ensures that the cables are optimally protected against mechanical stress and the weather. The need for maintenance has fallen drastically, so the terminal's maintenance department has to carry out preventive inspections less often. The result is a reliable installation that contributes to efficient container logistics and a longer service life of the valuable crane infrastructure.
