What is a cable grommet?

A split rubber part that closes around the cable and is fitted into a cable entry frame or split cable gland. The grommet seals and provides strain relief.

Which cable grommet fits my cable?

That depends on the outer diameter of the cable and on the frame or gland. Send us your cable list and we will select the right grommet for each cable.

What is a multi-range cable grommet?

A grommet that accommodates several cable diameters, for example the KTMB for 2.5 to 33 mm. You then don't need to select the exact size for each cable.

Can I keep an opening free for later?

Yes. An ST blanking plug closes off a KT or QT grommet until a cable is added.

Which grommet do I use in the food industry?

The Icotek KT-BL: blue, so it stands out, and made for the food industry.

A cable grommet is a piece of rubber with a hole for the cable. It is split, so the cable is laid into it rather than pushed through. The grommet then goes into a cable entry frame or split cable gland. When the frame is closed, the grommet is clamped around the cable.

From Icotek we supply the KT grommets for cables from 1 to 35 mm, multi-range grommets that accommodate several diameters (KTMB, KTMBS, KT-SC, KT-DPF), multi-hole and multi-membrane grommets for many thin cables (KT multi, KT-DT), QT and QTMB grommets for QUICK systems, EMC-KT grommets that earth the shield, versions for food (KT-BL) and cleanrooms (KT CR), and blanking plugs for openings that remain unused.

When do you choose grommets?

01You are filling a split frame: Every opening in a KEL frame or KVT gland gets a grommet that matches the cable.
02The cable diameter is uncertain: Multi-range grommets accommodate several diameters. Useful if you don't yet know the exact cable.
03Many thin cables: Multi-hole and multi-membrane grommets put several thin cables through one opening.
04A cable is added or removed: A single grommet or blanking plug is all you need; the frame stays in place.

01Measure the cable diameter
The outer diameter of the sheath determines the grommet. Measure it where the cable passes through the frame.
02Choose the system
KT grommets belong with the KEL frames and KVT glands, QT grommets with the QUICK systems. KTMB 183 and KTF are for KEL 183 and KEL-JUMBO.
03One size or several
If you know the exact diameter, choose a KT. If in doubt or if the cables change, choose a multi-range grommet.
04Shielded cable?
An EMC-KT earths the shield in the entry.
